In Conjunction with their celebration of the Artist-in Residence Program, Mudflat has invited past residents to return and give a talk or workshop. I will be teaching Surface and Pattern, Design and Technique, Saturday May 18th, 2019

Looking at a beautifully layered surface may not reveal the combined elements used to create the depth and richness of the final effect. In this workshop, explore and parse out Ruchika’s techniques that develop complex pattern and surface. Students will explore handbuilding forms, and experiment with various elements within their own work during class. Discussion will include the process of testing and evaluating results, understanding the nature of each material, and developing a personal library of surface ideas.
